Copper plating

Often "underground"

Copper rarely occurs in nature in its pure form, and instead is usually bound to iron, sulphur, or oxygen.

Copper is a soft, red metal with very good electrical properties and excellent thermal conductivity. It is the basis for alloys such as brass (copper and zinc) and bronze (copper and tin). Nowadays, a wide variety of metals are alloyed with copper in order to obtain a metal with specific properties.

In electroplating, copper is mainly used as an undercoat for subsequent platings, such as silver, nickel, nickel/gold, or nickel/chrome.
